My Philosophy
I grew up playing competitive soccer through college, where I learned that talent without discipline is tenuous. For my entire career, I’ve worked with countless young men as a professional educator and leader, advocating for their development and well-being.
In 2020, I founded GoodMenders to develop moral masculinity, principled leadership, and better culture. Today, we offer a training ground for those who want to grow bigger and have a positive impact.
American Zen teacher Charlotte Joko Beck made one of the most baller statements of all time. She said that if we are fixated on feeling good, blissful, or enlightened, then "we need to be disturbed. We need to be upset.... Don't come to this center to feel better; that's not what this place is about. What I want are lives that get bigger so that they can take care of more things, more people."
Her wisdom inspires this work, so we put it on the front door. We're here to grow bigger so that we can care for more.
My Credentials
My approach is a unique blend of three distinct worlds:
The Athlete
As an NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS)—demonstrating advanced knowledge, skills, and abilities in exercise science, sport psychology, nutrition, exercise technique, program design, organization and administration, and testing and evaluation—former collegiate player, and longtime coach and fitness enthusiast, I understand the physical and mental demands of peak performance.
The Teacher
With 15+ years of experience in education, leadership, and youth development, I know how to move from theory to practice to results.
The Practitioner
As a Zen practitioner and lifelong learner, I bring a level of mental and ethical discipline that allows my clients to find their Ideal Performance State in any situation.
The Commitment
I am a husband, a father, and a team player. I founded GoodMenders because I believe that when a man gets "bigger"—when he expands his capacity for ethical discipline—his family, his team, and his community grow stronger.
